Team-Up Tuesday – Spider-Man & Spider-Man 2099
This week’s original team-up art
is available for purchase by clicking the button below. Spider-Man 2099 has traveled back to the present day in the current pages of SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN. I really enjoyed the original run of SPIDERMAN 2099 back in the early ’90s so it’s fun to see him again, and it was fun to sketch him here.
Tribute Tuesday – INFINITY WAR #1
This Tuesday’s piece will be available for auction at the third Annual NYCC Charity Art Auction to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Saturday, October 12 from 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM in Room 1A17 of the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
It’s a Mini Marvel recreation/tribute of Ron Lim’s original cover to INIFINITY WAR #1. This triple gatefold cover is made of three art boards taped together and measures 33″ x 17″. Archival ink over blue pencil.
Tribute Tuesday – Walking Dead 100 Sketch Cover
It’s yet another tribute to the cover art of THE WALKING DEAD #1 by Tony Moore.
This time, however, it’s an original art sketch cover for THE WALKING DEAD #100. This piece is currently being auctioned to benefit the Hero Initiative, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterdays’ creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work.
So click here and bid on this piece (or any other Hero Initiative pieces that catch your eye)!
One last thing, just to be abundantly clear — THE WALKING DEAD is NOT appropriate reading material for kids.
Tribute Tuesday – FANTASTIC FOUR #101 & G-MAN: COMING HOME #4
The cover for G-MAN: COMING HOME #4 (available now on comiXology) was based on this Jack Kirby masterpiece, the cover for FANTASTIC FOUR #101. Perhaps an unusual choice for a cover tribute, but I found it unusual how perfectly suited this cover was for this particular issue of G-MAN: COMING HOME. Read it now digitally on comiXology to see what I mean! OR wait one more week and pick up the full G-MAN: COMING HOME collection in print, on sale in comic shops May 1st!
Tribute Tuesday – Mike Zeck's Secret Wars #1
MARVEL SUPER HEROES SECRET WARS was Marvel’s first big comic event that was directly and specifically tied into a line of action figures, which were created by Mattel in the 1980s. Featuring all of Marvel’s most prominent heroes and villains fighting on Battleworld, the comics and toys were a huge success. I personally had all the comics and as many of the action figures as I was able to track down. Awesome art by Mike Zeck sure helped make it all look amazing. Here’s my Mini Marvels tribute to SECRET WARS #1 based on Mike Zeck’s original classic cover.
Tribute Tuesday – Jack Kirby's Tales of Suspense #80
We’ve showcased this cover tribute before.
Now we’re offering the original piece of art for sale by clicking the button below! SOLD!
Tribute Tuesday – Jack Kirby's Avengers #9
Here’s a relatively old one… not only the original Avengers #9 by Jack Kirby from 1964, but I drew this recreation about 8 years ago. I’ve always loved the “floating heads” cover design, and you can’t go wrong when those floating heads belong to Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, the Wasp, and Giant Man! And oh yeah… it’s the introduction of “Wonder Man, the newest, most dynamic surprise character from the world-famous house of ideas!”
Tribute Tuesday – Jack Kirby's Journey Into Mystery #83
Another classic Jack Kirby cover, JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #83, which features the first story of the mighty Thor! He’s already called “The most exciting superhero of all time” on the cover of his very first comic! Have at thee!
Tribute Tuesday – THE MIGHTY TITAN #1
THE MIGHTY TITAN is Joe Martino’s brand new comic book featuring a brand new superhero, the Mighty Titan! To order THE MIGHTY TITAN, and more importantly, to get MY cover, check out the Mighty Titan Kickstarter Page. The project is funded, and the comics will be printed, but there is only ONE DAY LEFT to reserve a copy of the exclusive variant cover I drew, based on the original cover drawn by the living legend, Jerry Ordway. Don’t miss it!!!
